Ick my birthday is in 11 days! Then school starts 4 days after that. Anyways, I just got back from a trip.

I was in Northern Minnesota, just bordering Canada. It was near a Native American reservation. Every year for the past like 50 something years we've stayed in a cabin in a resort somewhere to fish. Except I don't really care that much about fishing. I loved the vacations when I was younger because I was obsessed with staying in houses that weren't mine and I liked "going to the beach." I didn't understand the difference between an ocean beach and some dirty sand dumped next to a lake so it was really exciting. But when I got older the idea of going swimming in a lake by myself while my parents supervised me (average only-child experience) stopped being that appealing. And I learned about brain eating bacteria and stuff so I wasn't that eager to be in a lake to begin with. So the last time I actually cared about going was when I was 11 and most of that trip I just sat inside and watched Pewdiepie Minecrat videos. Then covid happened and I didn't go again until I was 13-going-on-14 and I was like wow this sucks but it was like whatever I would just bring projects to work on inside and try to hype myself up about not having to worry about cleaning my room.

I don't want to be a negative nelly but every one of these trips have been slightly more traumatic than the last and this time around it was like purgatory where you have to sleep on a couch and keep your clothes under a sink and think about your sins.

And you only get one TV channel that only shows the stupid Olympics (like why are we still even doing that just go home and get a regular job) but your dad insists on watching it because he's used to watching TV while he eats food at 11 PM and you wouldn't care but as I previously mentioned you hAVE TO SLEEP ON THE COUCH ACROSS FROM HIM WHILE HE DOES THIS

And your grandma whose not usually around to observe everyone's food habits is around to observe everyone's food habits and you don't want to eat a tomato in a tupperware that was slimy so she's like "You're part of the NEW SCHOOL and I'm apart of the OLD SCHOOL and the new school is WASTEFUL" and then you have to witness her eating a moldy orange by using a knife to mine out the non-moldy parts and it's like ok if we were struggling to get food this would be a great idea but we buy plenty of stuff we don't need that costs more than the 20 cents that you got out of those partially edible pieces of moldy orange so I think the next time we are faced with this dilemma we should just throw away the moldy orange and buy 20 cents less of stuff we don't need or donate 20 cents to the starving children in Africa.

And a middle schooler on roblox with wildly fluctuating life perspectives is a little bit mean to you but still enough to kind of hurt your feelings but you can't really be mad about it because why are you talking to middle schoolers on roblox

BUT: I think I saw the man with the yellow hat in a casino so that kind of made up for everything
